In 5 ABY, a member of the [[Zann Consortium]] betrayed the location of a deep-space rendezvous point used by [[Tyber Zann]] to Zsinj. Zsinj ambushed the crime lord with the Super Star Destroyer ''[[Iron Fist (Executor-class)|Iron Fist]]'', and had Zann, the captured Nightsister [[Silri]], and the boy [[Ken]] who had captured her, brought before him. When Zann proposed an alliance, Zsinj shot him. He then tasked his Dathomirian lieutenant [[Lanu Pasiq]] with taking the injured Silri back to Dathomir and dropping her from orbit as a "gift" to [[Gethzerion]], the leader of the [[Nightsisters]]. To Ken, who went by the alias "Qaga Lok" at this point, Zsinj offered to pay what Zann had owed him, plus much more if Ken agreed to enter his employment.

Zsinj planned for Ken to be delivered to the secret [[Ubiqtorate]] base in the [[Derida complex]] on [[Phindar]], with the intention of letting him destroy the base from the inside so Zsinj's agents could enter and steal the [[Renewal]] technology the Ubiqtorate had recreated. The plan failed, however, when Ken realized that he was meant to be used as a pawn and had to be sedated before delivering him to the Ubiqtorate base. That outcome still achieved Zsinj's tertiary objective for the mission: to remove Ken as a danger to his organization.<ref>''[[Empire of Ashes: Fear]]''</ref>
