In 27 ABY, 8t88's severed head was still in the possession of the smuggler [[Kaerobani]] on [[Rathalay]]. Kaerobani and his friend, the retired [[Grand Admiral]] [[Octavian Grant|Grant]], sometimes used 8t88 to slice into [[New Republic]] fleet communications to follow the course of the [[Yuuzhan Vong War]]. When the [[Yuuzhan Vong]] [[Battle of Rathalay|invaded]] Rathalay in 27 ABY, 8t88 taunted Grant for not even trying to fight back. Kaerobani was killed in a Yuuzhan Vong attack on his villa, while Grant escaped in a shuttle together with 8t88's head. However, just as the shuttle lifted off, a Yuuzhan Vong warrior clung to the shuttle and held the hatch open.
